Oreo Churros

Give a twist to your classic churros and prepare an Oreo version, use the cream from the cookies to fill them, and sprinkle them with sugar and crushed cookies. They are very affordable and easy to make, give a twist to your classic recipe this September 15th.

  • 1 cup OREO cookies
  • 1 2/3 cups water
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/4 teaspoons salt
  • 1 tablespoon dry yeast
  • 3 eggs
  • vegetable oil, for frying
  • 1/2 cups sugar

  • Separate the filling from the cookies and set the cookies aside.
  • Place the cookies in a plastic bag and crush them with a rolling pin until you obtain a powder.
  • In a pot over medium heat, heat the water and add the flour all at once, the salt, the yeast, half of the cookie powder, and mix until perfectly combined, cook while stirring until the mixture pulls away from the sides.
  • Place the mixture in a bowl and add the eggs one by one mixing well, let it rest for 10 minutes and place the mixture in a piping bag with a star tip.
  • On a plate, mix the sugar with the remaining cookie powder. Set aside.
  • In a small pot, heat the oil, press the piping bag and let the dough drop, using scissors cut to the length you desire. Fry the churros for 5 minutes or until golden, remove and sprinkle with the sugar and cookie mixture.
  • Melt the cookie filling in the microwave in 10-second intervals and place it in a plastic bag. Hollow out the churros with a skewer and fill them with the melted cookie cream. Serve and enjoy.
