Mix the shortening with the peanut butter in a bowl until well combined. Add 1/3 cup of sugar and 1/3 cup of brown sugar. Beat until fluffy.
Add the egg, milk, and vanilla and mix well. Add the flour, baking soda, and salt.
Gradually add the peanut butter mixture to the prepared mixture.
With your hands, form balls about 2.5 cm in diameter. Sprinkle with sugar and place on a greased baking sheet.
Bake for 8-10 minutes or until lightly golden. Immediately when they are ready, place a chocolate in the center (the edges of the cookie will crack a little).
Allow to cool on a wire rack.
