Cute and Easy Apple Strudel

Well, I always make this recipe for Christmas because everyone asks for it since they love it! I learned this recipe in high school in the cooking workshop that I loved so much, as I adore cooking and especially baking! Since then, it has been one of my family's favorites! It's super easy and very delicious!

  • Chop the apple into small cubes, melt the butter in a pot, add the apples, sugar, and cinnamon. Cook over medium heat for about half an hour or until the apples soften a bit, stirring occasionally. Near the end, add the liquor. If desired, you can add raisins that you can soak in the liquor beforehand (I recommend golden raisins).
  • Roll out the puff pastry to half a cm thick, forming a rectangle. With a slotted spoon, strain some of the mixture and place it in the middle of the apples, leaving about 10 cm on each side (You can also add chopped walnuts here). Cut diagonal strips from each side. Fold the top and bottom sides, and then fold the strips inward from one side to the other, forming a simple braid. Brush with egg and sprinkle with sugar.
  • Bake at 180°C on a tray covered with aluminum foil or simply greased to prevent sticking if any liquid spills out. Bake for 40 to 45 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
