Recipe for Apple Crisp

  • 4 apples
  • 1/2 cups rum, spiced
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon powder
  • 1 teaspoon cardamom
  • 300 grams phyllo dough
  • 1 cup butter, melted
  • 1 cup sugar, for sprinkling
  • icing sugar, for sprinkling

  • Preheat the oven to 190°C.
  • Peel the apples, cut them into very thin slices, and mix in a bowl with spiced rum, cinnamon, and cardamom. Macerate for 2 hours in the refrigerator.
  • On a board, place the filo pastry, brush each sheet with melted butter, and sprinkle with sugar.
  • In a 5 cm diameter pastry ring, arrange 3 sheets of filo pastry and fill with the apples. Cover with more filo pastry, crumpling it by hand to shape it. Freeze for 20 minutes.
  • Bake the crisps for about 20 minutes or until golden. Remove and decorate with powdered sugar and fresh mint.
