  • 2 sticks unsalted butter
  • 400 grams María cookies
  • 8 cups cow's milk
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla essence
  • 6 egg yolks
  • 3 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup vanilla flavored cornstarch
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 6 bananas, ripe
  • 2 cups whipping cream

  • Crush the Maria cookies and mix with the previously melted butter, press the mixture into the crusts using your fingers.
  • Refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  • In a pot, combine the milk and vanilla extract, heat until boiling. Remove from heat and, using a whisk, gradually incorporate the egg yolks and sugar. Add the cornstarch and continue mixing with the whisk.
  • Return the pot to the heat and cook for 5 minutes; the mixture should thicken like a custard. Add the 6 tablespoons of butter until melted.
  • Slice the bananas and add them to the custard. Mix well.
  • Pour the mixture over the two pie crusts, making sure the bananas do not stick out of the custard to avoid darkening. Flatten the surface, cover the pies with plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 7 hours before serving.
  • Remove from the refrigerator and decorate with whipped cream.
