Pound Cake

This is the recipe for traditional pound cake. It can be served at breakfast with a bit of jam or during tea time. It is fluffy and perfect for enjoying with family.

  • 100 grams butter
  • 1/2 cups sugar
  • 3 eggs, whole eggs at room temperature
  • 1 1/2 cups flour, sifted
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder, baking powder
  • 3/4 cups cow's milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence

  • Put the butter in the microwave for a few seconds until it is melted, with the consistency of a cream.
  • Cream the butter until it is fluffy and add the sugar. Add the eggs one by one, beating well between each addition.
  • Mix the flour with the baking powder. Add the flour to the egg mixture, alternating with the milk. Add the teaspoon of vanilla.
  • Pour into a well-greased and floured rectangular mold. Bake at 180 degrees Celsius for 40-45 minutes.
  • Insert a toothpick to check if the pound cake is ready (it should come out clean). Once it is cool, turn the pound cake onto a platter and sprinkle with powdered sugar.
