Red Velvet Christmas Cake

This delicious Red Velvet cake has a batter that contains vanilla and chocolate and red food coloring, which makes it look so appealing. This version is decorated for Christmas, but the recipe can be used for all occasions. The frosting is cream cheese.

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 cups cocoa powder
  • 1 stick butter
  • 1/2 cups cow's milk
  • 4 eggs
  • 30 milliliters red food coloring
  • 1 cup sour cream, sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons vanilla essence

  • 1 stick cream cheese
  • 1 stick butter
  • 2 tablespoons sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons vanilla essence
  • 450 grams icing sugar
  • whole-wheat pasta, FOR DECORATING THE CAKE

  • semisweet chocolate, melted in a double boiler

  • Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius. Prepare a round cake pan by greasing it with cooking spray.
  • In a large bowl, mix the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cocoa.
  • In another large bowl, beat the butter, milk, eggs, red food coloring, vanilla, and sour cream.
  • Add the flour mixture to the wet mixture and beat the ingredients until smooth.
  • Pour the batter into the pan and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Remove from the oven and allow to cool before removing from the pan.
  • While the cake is baking, make the frosting by beating the cream cheese, butter, vanilla, and powdered sugar.
  • Take the cake and cut it horizontally with a serrated knife (to create two layers).
  • Place a layer of frosting on the first layer, place the top layer of the cake on top, and cover that layer with frosting as well.
  • Melt the semi-sweet chocolate in a double boiler and pour it over the cake to let it drip as in the photograph.
