Enjoy this skillet orange upside-down cake, but not just any skillet, rather with the T-Fal® Hard Titanium which, with its non-stick coating, will give your cakes a perfect aesthetic. Impress your guests!
For the batter, in a bowl, place the flour: sift it over a strainer and tap it lightly to sift, passing the baking powder, baking soda, and salt through the same strainer. Mix until the ingredients are combined.
Add the sugar, orange essence, orange zest, eggs one by one, and the whipping cream. Beat with a hand mixer until you obtain a smooth and uniform consistency. Set aside.
On a cutting board, slice the oranges into half-centimeter thick rounds using a knife. Set aside.
In the T-Fal® Hard Titanium skillet, place the sugar and spread it evenly across the surface, heating it over low heat until it forms a lightly golden caramel (approximately 8 minutes). Turn off the flame and let the caramel cool until warm.
Place the orange slices on the warm caramel, close to each other. It is important to note that the caramel should be warm when placing the orange slices, so that when it cools completely, the orange adheres to the bottom of the skillet. If you notice that the caramel is no longer warm, heat the skillet again for a few minutes. Once you finish placing the oranges, let it cool.
Once the orange with the caramel has cooled, place the butter cubes on top and spread them across the bottom. Then pour the batter mixture until it fills ¾ of the T-Fal® Hard Titanium skillet. Place it on the stove over low heat and cover with a sheet of aluminum foil. Cook the cake for 1 hour. You can support it by placing a larger griddle under the T-Fal® Hard Titanium skillet to avoid direct heat during cooking.
Remove the cake from the heat and let it cool. Flip the cake to remove it from the skillet. Slice and enjoy.
