Spanish Churros with Cajeta

A typical fried dough dessert with sugar and cinnamon. These delicious churros are the perfect dessert to enjoy with a rich coffee or hot chocolate. Additionally, they are very easy to prepare, and you can give them an extra touch by serving them with cajeta or condensed milk. Mmm, a delight.

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1/2 cups butter
  • 1 cup flour
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/4 cups sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon powder
  • vegetable oil, for frying

  • Boil water, butter, and salt in a pot.
  • Add the flour and mix quickly until a ball of dough forms (1 minute).
  • Allow the mixture to cool while you beat the eggs in a deep bowl.
  • Slowly add the eggs to the dough (over low heat) and continue mixing until a ball forms and the dough sticks together.
  • Heat the oil in a skillet and prepare a pastry bag with a medium nozzle to make the churros.
  • Place the dough in the pastry bag and make the churros (see the shape in the photo) placing them on wax paper.
  • Fry the churros until golden in the oil and coat them in a mixture of sugar and cinnamon.
