  • For the caramel, cook the sugar in a pot for 5 minutes until it turns amber. Do not stir to prevent crystallization. Pour into a cake mold and let cool.
  • For the chocolate cake, in a bowl mix the dry ingredients.
  • In a mixer, cream the butter with the sugar, add the egg yolks and beat until fluffy, then add the cream, vanilla extract, and melted chocolate.
  • On the side, beat the egg whites until they double in volume.
  • Add the powders to the yolk mixture gently and then softly mix in the egg whites until fully combined. Pour into the caramel-coated cake mold and spread evenly.
  • For the flan, blend the evaporated milk with the condensed milk, eggs, vanilla, and rum.
  • Pour the flan mixture over the cake gently with the help of a spoon to avoid mixing, cover with aluminum foil, place in a water bath, and cook on the stove over medium heat for 50 minutes or until cooked through.
  • Cool and refrigerate for at least two hours. Unmold and decorate with walnuts, strawberries, and cookies.
