  • For the donut dough: mix flour and yeast in the mixer. Then add sugar, salt, butter, egg, vanilla, and beat at medium speed in the mixer. Gradually add water until you obtain an elastic and smooth dough.
  • Grease a small baking sheet, take the dough out of the mixer, and place it on the sheet. Let it rest for about 30 minutes or until it doubles in size.
  • Dust a little flour on the table and roll out the dough to a thickness of 5 cm. Use cutters to make 10 cm diameter circles and cut the center with a 2 cm cutter.
  • Flour a baking sheet and place the donuts on it, letting them rest for 15 to 20 minutes at room temperature.
  • Melt vegetable shortening in a deep pan over medium heat and fry the donuts on both sides. Remove them from the fat and let cool.
  • Chop the chocolate in a bowl and put it in the microwave for 15-second intervals until melted.
  • Add sugar to a bowl and toss the donuts in it if you want them sugared.
  • Take the chocolate out of the microwave, mix, and coat the donuts you want with chocolate.
