Turrón Flan

  • 1/2 cups sugar, for the caramel
  • 1/3 cups water, for the caramel
  • 2 cups cow's milk
  • 6 eggs
  • 1/4 cups sugar
  • 300 grams turrón, 2 bars
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla essence
  • 1 cup almonds, sliced, for decoration
  • 2 sprigs peppermint, for decoration

  • Preheat the oven to 170°C.
  • Heat the sugar and water in a pot, and let it cook until it turns into caramel on low heat, about 7 minutes without stirring.
  • Pour the caramel into a flan mold and spread. Let it cool.
  • For the flan, blend the milk, eggs, sugar, turrón bars, and vanilla.
  • Pour into the mold with caramel and bake in a water bath for about 1 hour or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool and unmold.
  • Decorate with toasted sliced almonds and fresh mint.
