Rice Horchata

A typical Mexican drink of rice with sugar, I love to drink this drink and add cubes of melon and chopped walnuts to the water. Try it like this, you will love the original flavor that these two ingredients give it.

  • 1 cup rice, raw and washed
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon powder
  • 1/2 tablespoons lime juice
  • 6 cups water
  • 4 cinnamon, in slits
  • ice cubes, to taste

  • The rice is soaked in typical water for 2-3 hours.
  • Then it is transferred to a pot with 6 cups of water and boiled until cooked and very watery, removed from the heat and allowed to cool.
  • Once cold, strain the rice (squeezing well to remove all its water) and pour the water into a bowl or jug.
  • Add the sugar and lemon and stir well.
  • Ice is added and served.
