Melt the chocolate using a double boiler (placing it in a container over a pot of water). This step can also be done in the microwave, melting it for 20 seconds at a time, stirring to ensure it melts completely and doesn’t burn.
Pour the melted chocolate into a large glass bowl. Allow it to cool slightly but do not let it solidify again.
Meanwhile, inflate the balloons.
Prepare a large tray with wax paper. Using a spoon, place a mirror of chocolate by putting a tablespoon of chocolate and spreading it in a circle. Do the same across the entire tray, leaving at least 5 cm of space between each one.
Dip the bottom part of the balloon into the bowl of chocolate; it should cover at least 3/4 of the balloon.
Place the chocolate-coated balloons on each of the previously made bases; this will prevent the balloon from moving and the chocolate bowl will have support.
Once the chocolate has hardened, proceed to pop the balloon. If the chocolate needs more firmness, refrigerate for an hour.
The chocolate cups are ready!
