Dough for Sopes

With this sopes dough recipe, you can make your own homemade sopes and serve them as a snack, main dish, breakfast, or dinner.

  • 4 cups masa harina
  • 2 1/2 cups water
  • 1/2 teaspoons salt

  • Mix the maseca, water, and salt. Knead until the dough no longer sticks to your hands.
  • Divide into 20 portions, take each one, roll into balls, and flatten as if you were making tortillas.
  • With your fingers, lift the edges of each sope.
  • Heat a griddle and cook the sopes on each side for about 1 minute or until they are lightly golden.
