Colorful Jicama Sticks

Prepare these delicious jicama sticks like those from the corner cart. They are thick slices of jicama shaped like a popsicle, accompanied by colored sugar or chili powder, chamoy, and lime. Super refreshing for this summer.

  • 3 cups sugar, for the colored chili
  • 1/2 cups chile powder
  • food coloring, in different colors, purple, blue, yellow, pink, green, orange, etc.
  • 1 jicama, large, peeled
  • 1 cup lime juice
  • 1 cup chamoy
  • 1 cup chile powder

  • In a bowl, mix the sugar with ground piquin chili, separate the mixture into small glass jars, add a few drops of liquid food coloring to each jar, separate by color, cover the jar, and shake several times until the color changes. Set aside.
  • On a cutting board, slice the jicama into thick slices, then cut the pieces into different shapes using a cookie cutter. Insert a stick and set aside.
  • Dip the jicama in lime juice and liquid chamoy, then coat with colored chili powder or just chili powder.
