Fried Cheese Balls

Delicious fried mozzarella cheese balls served with tomato sauce.

  • 1 cup flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 tablespoon thyme
  • 500 grams fresh Mozzarella cheese, in balls
  • 2 cups vegetable oil
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • pepper
  • salt

  • Preheat the oven to 120 degrees Celsius. Place flour in a deep container. In another container, beat the eggs. In a third container, mix the breadcrumbs with thyme.
  • Season the cheese with salt and pepper and coat each cheese ball in the flour, then the egg, and then the breadcrumbs.
  • In a small skillet, heat the oil over medium heat until a little breadcrumb fries quickly when placed in the oil.
  • Fry the balls (4 at a time) until golden brown for about 2 minutes. Remove from the oil and place on a plate with paper towels. To make them less greasy, bake for 15 minutes afterwards.
