Traditional northern flour tortillas, with all the flavor of the north, I bring you these delicious flour tortillas, get ready for quesadillas, tacos, enchiladas, or even delicious crepes.
In a deep bowl, combine the flour, salt, baking powder, melted butter, and mix well with the vegetable shortening, using gentle hand movements and avoiding lumps.
Add the egg and continue mixing gently, then gradually add the milk (as hot as you can handle) until a uniform dough is formed, until it no longer sticks to your fingers.
Form a ball of dough and let it rest covered with a clean cloth. Allow to rest for 10 to 15 minutes.
Give it a light knead again and immediately form small balls of dough with your hands.
Dust a flat surface with flour, place a ball of dough, and flatten it very lightly with your fingers, then use a rolling pin to make the tortillas.
Heat a cast-iron skillet very well and place the tortillas on it, wait for small bubbles to form and then flip them to cook the other side.
