Whole Wheat Sandwich Rolls

Bite-sized version of my mom's classic sandwich roll, made with whole wheat bread, turkey ham, and yellow cheese. Super easy to make, just like the original version.

  • 20 slices sandwich bread, whole wheat (or white if desired)
  • 10 slices turkey deli ham
  • 10 slices American cheese, yellow
  • low-fat mayonnaise, as needed
  • pickled Jalapeño chiles, to taste

  • Cut the edges of the bread.
  • Spread mayonnaise on one side of the bread.
  • On a sushi mat, place 4 slices of bread together, spreading mayonnaise on the edges to help them stick.
  • Place the slices of ham and cheese, making sure to leave at least 2 cm on one edge of the bread.
  • Add small pieces of jalapeño pepper to taste.
  • Take the edge of the mat and start rolling, making sure to tighten the bread.
  • Continue with the rest of the bread until finished.
  • Cut the rolls into small pieces and place them on a large plate.
