I love Argentine empanadas, and I started searching for recipes. In the end, I decided to combine a bit of one recipe and another, and this is what came out.
In a deep bowl, mix the flour, maseca, salt, baking powder, and blend.
Add the lard, butter, and gradually the water until it reaches a manageable consistency.
Make small balls and in a tortilla press with plastic on the bottom and top, flatten, fill, and seal the edges with a fork, then poke in the center to let it breathe.
Place a skillet over low heat with enough oil and fry.
Drain the oil and serve with lettuce, tomato, and avocado.
