Arepas, one of the most famous dishes from Venezuela, are characterized by their variety of fillings and can be enjoyed at any time of the day, whether for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Enjoy these shredded beef arepas!
50 grams red bell pepper, for the filling, (in cubes)
1 clove garlic, for the filling
10 grams cumin, for the filling
1 1/2 cups tomatillo, for the filling

In a bowl, add warm water and dissolve the salt, once ready, add oil and gradually add the precooked cornmeal, mixing all the ingredients until you form a soft and moist dough.
Form medium-sized dough balls and press with the palm of your hand to form discs about 1 cm thick, and set aside.
In a skillet over medium heat, place the arepas and cook for about 5 minutes or until they are golden brown on both sides, and set aside.
For the filling, sauté the onion in small cubes, garlic, tomato, red bell pepper in small cubes, and add the precooked shredded beef, mix well, and add the blended tomato, the beef cooking broth, season with salt, pepper, and a touch of ground cumin.
Cook for about 5 minutes until the liquids reduce by half.
Using a knife, open the arepa and fill it with the shredded beef.
