Fish Birria

A different way to prepare birria for Lent

  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 6 tomatoes, large
  • 5 cloves
  • 1 onion, large
  • 1 cup vinegar
  • 2 dried ancho chili peppers, soaked
  • 2 leaves bay
  • 1 pinch 4 pepper blend
  • 4 fish, of your preference, it can be in pieces
  • salt
  • 1 pinch oregano
  • 1 pinch cumin

  • Blend the ancho chiles with 2 cloves of garlic, 1/4 onion, 3 cloves, pepper, salt, and vinegar.
  • Spread the previous mixture on the pieces of fish and let marinate for approximately 30 minutes.
  • Boil the tomatoes with 1 clove of garlic, 2 cloves, a piece of onion, and bay leaves.
  • Blend the cooked tomatoes along with a pinch of oregano, cumin, and salt.
  • Grease a baking dish and place the marinated fish. Bake at 180 degrees Celsius for 15 minutes.
  • After 15 minutes, add the sauce we blended earlier and bake for another 10 minutes.
