Fried Shrimp with Spicy Sauce

This shrimp recipe is breaded and fried, and finally tossed in a spicy mayonnaise sauce. Very delicious as a snack!

  • 1/4 cups vegetable oil, for frying
  • 2 eggs
  • 3/4 cups flour
  • 1/2 cups cornstarch
  • 1 pinch pepper
  • 750 grams shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1/2 cups mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon Sriracha sauce, or chipotle sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey

  • Prepare the sauce: mix the mayonnaise, sriracha sauce, honey, 1/4 teaspoon of salt, and 1 tablespoon of water. Stir and set aside.
  • Prepare the shrimp, heating about 5 cm of vegetable oil in a pot over medium heat until it registers 180 degrees on a thermometer.
  • Whisk the eggs in a deep plate.
  • Stir together the flour, cornstarch, and 1 teaspoon of salt and pepper.
  • Dip the shrimp first in the flour mixture, then in the egg mixture, and return to the flour mixture once more.
  • Fry the shrimp in the oil until golden brown, about 1-2 minutes. Place on paper towels to absorb the excess grease.
  • Dip the shrimp in the prepared spicy sauce and serve over a bed of leaf lettuce.
