Seared Tuna Fillet

Tuna is a delicious fish that is best when seared. Searing means it is cooked only on the outside while leaving the inside medium-rare to fully enjoy its flavor.

  • 4 fresh tuna steak
  • 4 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 1/2 cups sesame seeds, black
  • 1/2 cups sesame seeds, regular
  • 4 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 lime, its juice
  • 2 tablespoons chives, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • green lettuce, for decorating the dish

  • In a large skillet, heat sesame oil over medium heat and sauté the garlic cloves until golden.
  • Pat the tuna fillets dry with paper towels and coat them with a mixture of black sesame and regular sesame seeds.
  • Cook the fillets in sesame oil, ensuring that the exterior is fully cooked while leaving the interior raw. This means cooking each fillet for approximately 2 minutes on each side.
  • Remove the fillets and keep them in a place where they won’t cool down.
  • To the skillet with the sesame oil where the tunas were browned, add soy sauce, lemon juice, and finely chopped green onions.
  • Pour the sauce into a deep plate for plating the fish.
