Shrimp with Tamarind Sauce

This recipe is delicious and super easy. You can find tamarind syrup in any grocery store.

  • 400 grams jumbo shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 cup tamarind syrup, or sauce
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 1/2 onions, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 10 heads green onion
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • pepper

  • In a skillet, heat 4-5 tablespoons of oil over medium heat and sauté the onion for 2 minutes or until it becomes translucent.
  • Add the garlic and ginger and sauté for 1 more minute. Add the scallions and mix.
  • Finally, add the shrimp and cook for 2 minutes.
  • In a separate bowl, mix the tamarind syrup with the sugar and season with salt and pepper. Pour the sauce over the shrimp and cook for 2-3 more minutes, making sure not to overcook the shrimp.
