In a pan heat over medium heat 4-5 tablespoons oil and brown the onion for 2 minutes or until translucent.

On the other hand, mix the tamarind syrup with the sugar and season with salt and pepper. Pour the sauce over the shrimp and cook for 2-3 more minutes, making sure to overcook the shrimp.
