Steamed Fresh Lobsters

Cooking a live lobster is much simpler than you think. With this recipe, you can have a lobster ready in less than 15 minutes, full of flavor! The cooking time depends on the weight of the lobsters.

  • 4 lobsters, live
  • salt, (as needed)
  • water
  • butter, cold melted
  • 2 limes, halved

  • Put your live lobsters in the refrigerator (inside the bags they came in) as soon as possible to keep them fresh.
  • Put a deep pot on the stove with 2 cm. of water. Add salt. The water should taste like sea water, very salty. Cover the pot and wait for it to boil.
  • Once the water is boiling, add the lobsters one by one. Cover the pot and once it starts boiling again, cook the lobsters according to their weight.
  • For lobsters between 1 lbs and 1 1/2 lbs, cook for 10-12 minutes. Lobsters from 1 1/2 to 2 lbs, cook for 13-14 minutes. Lobsters between 2 and 3 lbs, cook for 16-18 minutes. Lobsters between 3 and 4 lbs, cook for 20-22 minutes.
