  • Take a sushi mat and place a sheet of seaweed on it, with the shiny side of the seaweed facing the mat.
  • Moisten your hands with cold water and take 3/4 cup of rice, spread it over the seaweed leaving a 1-centimeter border on the side opposite to the chef.
  • Put 1/4 tablespoon of wasabi on the rice in a horizontal line about 4 centimeters from the chef.
  • On the wasabi, place 1 or 2 strips of fresh tuna, 2 strips of cucumber, and 2 strips of carrot.
  • Starting with the edge closest to you, lift the sushi mat with your thumbs, keep the filling in place with your fingers, and fold the mat over the filling so that the top and bottom edges of rice meet. Gently but firmly squeeze along the length of the roll and pull the top edge of the mat away from you to tighten. Repeat to form the remaining rolls.
  • To cut the roll, soak a very sharp knife in water and cut the roll first in half, and then each half into 3 pieces.
