Puff Pastry Tuna Baskets

Delicious and practical puff pastry baskets with tuna, serve them cold or hot with melted cheese. They can be part of your menu for the day accompanied by a salad or as canapés at a gathering or picnic.

  • 2 canned tuna
  • 1/2 onions, diced into small cubes
  • 1 tomato, seedless and diced into small cubes
  • 1 yellow bell pepper, diced into small cubes
  • white button mushrooms, cleaned and diced into small cubes
  • salt, to taste
  • pepper, to taste
  • dried oregano, to taste
  • 100 grams Manchego cheese, or Chihuahua cheese
  • 1/2 kilos puff pastry
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • Roll a rolling pin over the puff pastry sheet to make it thinner, approximately half a millimeter. It usually comes folded and a bit thick; cut squares of about 10 cm x 10 cm.
  • Grease muffin molds with a little oil. Place the squares of puff pastry over them, making a small fold to shape them to the mold. Set aside.
  • Sauté the onion, tomato, and bell pepper until the latter is soft. Add the mushrooms and tuna, season to taste with salt and pepper, and finally add the dried oregano.
  • Pour portions of the already cooked tuna into each puff pastry basket and top with cheese.
  • Preheat the oven to 200°C, bake for 20 minutes or until the puff pastry takes on a golden hue.
