Spaghetti with Tuna in Spicy Tomato Sauce

This spaghetti with tuna in spicy tomato sauce is very easy to prepare with little planning as it uses many of the ingredients you usually have at home, such as pasta and tuna. It has hints of dried chili, basil, and white wine that give it a spectacular flavor. Don't hesitate to try it.

  • 6 tomatoes
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoons peperoncino, or dried red chili
  • 1/2 cups dry white wine
  • 375 grams spaghetti
  • 1 can canned tuna in water
  • 1/2 cups basil, chopped
  • 1/2 cups black olives, chopped
  • salt, to taste
  • pepper, to taste

  • Bring water to a boil in a large pot with a little salt.
  • Puree the tomatoes in a blender or food processor and set aside.
  • Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat and add the garlic and dried chili. Cook until the garlic is cooked, a couple of minutes.
  • Increase the heat to high and add the wine. Cook until it evaporates by half and add the pureed tomatoes. Season with 3/4 teaspoon of salt and continue cooking until the sauce thickens a bit (about 8 minutes). Remove from heat and set aside.
  • Cook the pasta according to the package instructions.
  • Add the cooked pasta along with the tuna to the skillet of sauce and cook for 1 minute. Season with salt and pepper. Add the chopped basil and olives.
  • Serve hot.
