Tuna and Potato Fried Tacos

A delicious traditional Mexican recipe. Perfect for days when your pantry has few items. It is very economical and easy to make. Perfect for starting a meat-free diet.

  • 4 cans tuna
  • 4 potatoes
  • corn tortillas, as needed
  • 1 liter vegetable oil
  • 1/2 lettuce, disinfected and cut into strips
  • 1/2 sour cream
  • 1/4 Cotija cheeses
  • tomatoes, sliced
  • 1 avocado
  • 1 onion, sliced

  • Boil the potatoes with a bit of salt in boiling water. When they are well cooked, remove them from the water, peel them, and mash a little.
  • Open the cans of tuna and add them to the bowl of mashed potatoes. Stir. Check that it’s not lacking salt.
  • Fill the tortillas in the shape of tacos. (Put a portion of the potato with tuna in the middle of the tortilla and roll it up)
  • Heat oil in a deep skillet. When it’s hot, carefully place the previously made tacos one by one. Make sure they don't open.
  • Remove them from the oil and let them drain on paper towels for a moment.
  • Serve four tacos on each plate and top with cream, cotija cheese, a bit of lettuce, some slices of tomato, onion slices, and a bit of avocado to finish.
