Tuna Empanadas with Chipotle

Prepare these delicious tuna empanadas, with a delightful spicy chipotle flavor, very soft on the inside and crispy on the outside, accompanied by avocado, mayonnaise, and lime. They are ideal for eating as a snack.

  • 300 grams tuna, cut into small cubes
  • 1 cup Del Fuerte® tomato purée with chipotle chile
  • 1/4 onions, finely chopped
  • salt and pepper
  • 3 cups flour, for the dough
  • 2 tablespoons sugar, for the dough
  • 1/2 teaspoons salt, for the dough
  • 1/4 cups vegetable oil, for the dough
  • 1 cup water, for the dough
  • flour, for rolling out
  • 2 cups vegetable oil, for frying
  • 1 avocado, for serving

  • In a bowl, place the tuna, add Del Fuerte® Tomato Puree with Chipotle. Add the onion and season with salt and pepper.
  • For the dough: in a bowl, mix the flour with the sugar, salt, and oil. Knead until combined, gradually add water until you have a soft and smooth dough. Let it rest for 20 minutes.
  • Roll out the dough on a floured surface and cut circles 10 cm in diameter, add the tuna filling, close the empanada using your fingers to press.
  • Heat the oil over medium heat, fry the empanadas until golden.
  • Serve with slices of avocado, cilantro, mayonnaise, and limes.
