Guava Atole with Water

A delicious traditional atole, 100% Mexican. It’s really tasty and very easy to make... Perfect to accompany with some delicious tamales or churros. Also, it can be consumed by diabetic individuals, as it is made with water.

  • 2 liters water
  • 3/4 kilos guava
  • 1 stick cinnamon
  • 4 tablespoons cornstarch, tasteless
  • sugar , to taste
  • 1 glass water, hot

  • Bring the guavas (without the stem) to a boil along with the cinnamon and a little sugar (1/2 cup). Cook for about 10 minutes or until the guavas are soft.
  • Remove the cinnamon stick and blend the guavas with a little of the water they were boiled in.
  • Strain to remove the seeds and dissolve with the remaining water.
  • Put back on the stove.
  • In a glass with cold water, dissolve the cornstarch and add it to the guava mixture.
  • Add more sugar if necessary and continue stirring to prevent sticking, until the desired consistency is reached (approx. 20 min).
