Bean Gorditas with Fresh Cheese

Try these delicious bean gorditas, which are prepared with little oil thanks to the Chefman® Multifunctional Air Fryer. They will be just as delicious and crispy as if they were fried in oil!

  • 500 grams masa dough
  • 1 teaspoon lard
  • 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • water
  • 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cups onion, finely chopped
  • salt
  • 2 cups black beans, whole and cooked
  • epazote, only the leaves
  • cooking spray
  • sour cream, for decoration
  • green salsa
  • queso fresco, for decoration

  • Mix the corn dough, lard, and salt in a bowl, gradually adding water. Knead until it feels smooth and does not stick to the bowl.
  • Heat the oil in a pot and fry the onion for 5 minutes or until it is slightly golden. Then add the beans and, using a masher, mash them and cook until they have no liquid left. Set aside.
  • To make the gorditas: Form balls with the help of your hands and then flatten them a little, place them on the tray of the Chefman® Multifunctional Air Fryer and fry at 200 °C for 20 minutes in air fry mode.
  • Remove the bean gorditas from the tray and let them cool slightly so that, with the help of a knife, you can cut the gordita without reaching the center. Fill with a tablespoon of beans and place on the plate where you will serve them.
  • Decorate the bean gorditas with cream, cheese, and green sauce.
