If you love the Christmas season as much as we do, try this spectacular puff pastry ring with a boozy and sweet filling thanks to Domino® Mascabado Sugar. This recipe is an excellent way to celebrate at home during such a special time.
In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil and cook the onion with the garlic until they turn translucent. Add the carrot and tomato, mix to incorporate. Integrate the ground meat and the apple; once the meat begins to darken, add the nutmeg, ground thyme, ground clove, oregano, cranberries, pecans, and almonds, mix and season with salt and pepper. Finally, add the Domino® Mascabado Sugar and the red wine, and let cook for 10 more minutes over low heat. Remove from heat and let cool.
Preheat the oven to 180°C.
On a flat, floured surface, roll out the puff pastry into a rectangle 3 mm thick, using a knife to trim the edges for uniform sides. Make isosceles triangles approximately 12 centimeters wide; they do not need to be perfect; repeat until you finish with the dough, you should have between 10 and 15 triangles.
On a round baking tray of 30 centimeters in diameter, arrange the triangles to form a circle with the tips facing outward, gluing each piece by brushing with egg. Place the filling in the center of the triangles and close by bringing the tips over the filling and underneath the ring. Ensure there are no openings and brush the entire ring with egg. Bake for 30 minutes at 180°C. If the dough does not feel firm, refrigerate for 10 minutes before baking.
Remove from the oven and let the puff pastry cool slightly. Place it on a serving platter, decorate with cranberries, fresh oregano, and thyme.
