  • 4 cups masa mix for tamales
  • 1/2 cups lard
  • salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 2 cups green salsa
  • 2 cups pork, in medium cubes
  • corn husks

  • In a bowl, mix the tamale flour, lard, and salt until well combined and lumps are dissolved. Add the baking powder and chicken broth and mix for 10 to 15 minutes or until it doubles in size. Set aside.
  • To form the little pot tamale: shape a ball the size of your hand and create a hole with your other hand, as if you were forming a little pot. Fill with a bit of pork, pour in some sauce, and close it. Then, wrap with the tamale leaves.Cook the little pot tamales in a water bath for 40 minutes.
  • Serve and accompany with atole.
