Michoacán carnitas

Furthermore, this version of Michoacán carnitas is very practical, as it is prepared with the Royal Prestige® Precision Cook, an induction grill that also features a slow cooking function to help you easily prepare tender carnitas.

  • 1 kilo lard
  • 500 grams pork ribs, in medium pieces
  • 500 grams pork leg, in medium pieces
  • 1/2 garlic heads
  • 4 allspice berries
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 2 cloves
  • 4 orange slices
  • 1/2 cups orange juice
  • salt
  • lime, to accompany
  • onion, to accompany
  • cilantro, to accompany
  • tortillas, to accompany
  • green salsa, to accompany

  • Place the 4-quart Royal Prestige® Dutch oven on the Royal Prestige® Precision Cook, select the power option, and preheat the pan on power 4 for 3 minutes. Then, add the lard and heat for 10 minutes.
  • Select the slow cook option for 2 hours on power 3. Add the ribs, the pork shoulder, the head of garlic, allspice, bay leaves, cloves, orange slices, orange juice, and salt.
  • Remove the Michoacán-style carnitas and if they are tender, take them out of the lard. Chop the carnitas and set aside.
  • Serve the Michoacán carnitas on a large plate and accompany with tortillas, onion, cilantro, lime, and green sauce.
