Natural Chalupitas

Although chalupas can be filled with chicken, pork, beef, or potatoes, this natural version is also very popular. With this recipe for chalupitas, this Poblano snack is simple yet delicious and is only accompanied by Salsa Don Danny Herdez®, cream, and onion, so you will love its flavor. A trick to give more flavor to these natural chalupitas is to hydrate the dough with chicken broth instead of water.

  • 400 grams masa dough
  • water
  • 1 tablespoon lard
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • lard, for frying
  • 1 cup Herdez® Don Danny salsa, (300 g)
  • 1/2 cups sour cream
  • 1/2 cups onion, finely chopped
  • fresh cilantro, for garnish

  • In a bowl, mix the corn dough, water, lard, and salt, and knead until fully combined.
  • Form small balls with your hands and use a press to shape tortillas, then fry them in lard. Drain on absorbent paper.
  • Place Salsa Don Danny Herdez® on the tortilla, along with cream, onion, and cilantro. Enjoy.
