New York Style Hot Dog

  • For the shallot, cook the shallot in a pan with hot olive oil for a few minutes on low heat, stirring constantly, until the shallot starts to darken; once this happens, add the brown sugar, cook for a few more minutes until the vegetable becomes crispy, remember to keep stirring constantly. Drain on paper towels and set aside.
  • Prepare the dressing, mix in a bowl the mustard along with the chili flakes, paprika, and olive oil until you get a homogeneous mixture and red in color. Place in a squeeze bottle and set aside.
  • Coat the sausage with olive oil, place it in a hot pan and grill evenly.
  • Assemble your hot dog. Cut the hot dog bun in half without slicing it completely, place the grilled sausage, add the caramelized shallot, fried bacon, spicy dressing, and mayonnaise. Serve and accompany with onion rings.
