Try this delicious Salami Stromboli, a typical pizza from Italian-American cuisine. This stromboli is very similar to other classics like calzone pizza or focaccia. The rich flavor of salami with the crispy pizza dough makes stromboli an irresistible combination.
In a bowl, mix the flour, salt, yeast, and olive oil. Gradually add the water and incorporate. Knead until you have a firm and smooth consistency.
Gather the dough with your hands to form a ball. Place it in a greased bowl with oil and cover with a cloth. Let it rest until it doubles in size.
Using your hands, remove the excess air from the dough. On a floured surface, roll out the dough into a rectangle.
Cover with tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, fried chorizo or chistorra, and close it so that the ingredients remain inside the rectangle. It is very important to seal the stromboli well so that when frying, the ingredients do not spill out.
In a saucepan over medium heat, heat the oil and fry the stromboli; turn it on both sides, making sure the oil is not too hot so that the dough cooks well and does not remain raw inside.
Place on absorbent paper to remove excess oil.
Garnish with fresh arugula and serve.
