Sausage Meatballs

Meatballs are a homemade, rich, and nutritious dish, and with this recipe, you can give it a twist, as we prepare them with LALA® Plenia® sausages, which have 100% turkey meat and give a delicious flavor. You will love these sausage meatballs!

  • 1 package LALA® Plenia® sausages
  • 1 1/2 cups white rice, cooked, for the meatballs
  • 1 cup Manchego cheese, grated, for the meatballs
  • 1/2 cups onion, finely chopped, for the meatballs
  • 1/4 cups parsley, finely chopped, for the meatballs
  • 1/2 cups breadcrumbs, for the meatballs
  • 1 egg, for the meatballs
  • salt
  • pepper
  • 5 tomatoes, for the sauce
  • 1/2 cups tomato purée, for the sauce
  • 2 tablespoons chipotle chile in adobo sauce, for the sauce
  • 1 teaspoon cumin, for the sauce
  • 1 teaspoon oregano, for the sauce

  • vegetable oil, for frying
  • oregano, fresh, for garnish

Low
  • For the meatballs, chop the LALA® Plenia® sausages into medium cubes on a cutting board.
  • In a bowl, combine the rice with the manchego cheese, onion, parsley, breadcrumbs, egg, and LALA® Plenia® sausages; season with enough salt and pepper and mix until you have a pasty and manageable mixture. Form small balls with your hands and refrigerate them for 30 minutes.
  • For the sauce, blend the tomato with the tomato puree, chipotle pepper in adobo, cumin, and oregano for 3 minutes in the blender. Pour the sauce into a hot saucepan, season with salt and pepper, and cook for 10 minutes or until the color changes. Set aside.
  • In another pan, fry the meatballs until the outer layer is sealed with a little vegetable oil. Drain on paper towels.
  • Serve the meatballs with the sauce and garnish with fresh oregano.
