Place a large pot of water over medium heat with 3 tablespoons of coarse salt until it boils.
Add the spaghetti and cook for 5-6 minutes or until al dente.
Drain the spaghetti and reserve 1 cup of the cooking water. Return the pasta to the pot.
Add half of the pasta water, the butter, and the parmesan cheese to the pot. Mix until the cheese melts, about 3 minutes. If the pasta is too dry, you can add the remaining water.
Season with salt and pepper.
Serve garnishing the dish with the slices of parmesan cheese.
