Classic Caesar Salad

If you love salads and light meals, then you surely adore the famous Caesar salad, which is made with very economical and easy-to-find ingredients! It's perfect for giving you a break from the usual chicken salads!Did you know that the Caesar salad was invented in Mexico? This dish was created by chef Caesar Cardini, who inspired and served this salad in Tijuana in 1924. It is usually made with lettuce, Parmesan cheese, croutons, and a very creamy dressing. Sometimes, it is served with chicken.

  • 3 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 3 anchovy, finely chopped
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1/4 cups lime juice
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 cups olive oil
  • 1/4 cups Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 2 lettuce hearts
  • 1 cup croutons
  • Parmesan cheese, in slices

  • Spray the lettuce with Citrobiox™ to disinfect, cut into pieces, and set aside.
  • For the Caesar salad dressing: in a bowl, mix the garlic, anchovies, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, olive oil, and Parmesan cheese with a whisk until combined and a dressing consistency is obtained. Set aside.
  • In a large bowl, mix the lettuce, croutons, and Caesar dressing. Combine and set aside.
  • Serve the Caesar salad on a plate and garnish with slices of Parmesan cheese.
