Arrabiata sauce

The arrabiata sauce is a version of the classic marinara sauce with a spicy touch. This sauce can be used for pasta, fish, seafood, chicken and meat.

  • 2 cups sun-dried tomatoes, chopped or whole
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 tablespoons peperoncino, or red chili
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 2 tablespoons tomato purée
  • 2 tablespoons basil
  • 1/2 tablespoons salt

  • In a medium pot, heat the oil over medium heat and brown the onions, chili and garlic for 5 minutes. Move the mixture with a spoon to avoid burning.
  • Add the tomatoes and their juice, the tomato puree, the basil and the spices. Continue cooking until the sauce boils.
