Mango Chutney

Chutney is a typical Indian sauce used as a side for many dishes like curry. This mango chutney is made with different spices and a little bit of apple and raisins.

  • 3 mangoes, preferably finely chopped green
  • 2 cups white vinegar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 1/2 teaspoons pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon chile powder
  • 2 teaspoons ginger powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoons clove
  • 1 teaspoon allspice
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seed
  • 1/2 cups raisins
  • 1 1/2 cups apple, chutney

  • Put all ingredients in a pot and bring to a boil, once it starts boiling, lower the heat, cover the pot and let it simmer for 30 minutes. (If you prefer it sweeter, you can add 1/2 cup of regular sugar). Pour it hot into sterilized jars and store.
