Pico de gallo, also known as salsa bandera, is one of the favorite side dishes of Mexicans, as it can be used to accompany any dish. Enjoy traditional pico de gallo at any time of day; you will love it!

1/2 onions, large
2 tomatoes
2 serrano chiles
1/4 cups cilantro, chopped
1/4 cups lime juice
salt
pepper
1/4 avocados, for accompaniment
tortilla chips, for accompaniment

Chop the onion, tomato, and serrano pepper into small cubes; you can leave the seeds and veins of the latter if you want it spicier.
Mix the ingredients with cilantro, lime juice, and enough salt and pepper in a bowl. Marinate for at least 15 minutes in the refrigerator.
Serve the pico de gallo and accompany with avocado and tortilla chips to taste.
