Beer-Battered Potatoes

4 potatoes, large
2 cups lager beer
125 grams turkey deli ham, sliced
2 cloves garlic
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
salt, and pepper to taste

Wash, peel, and slice the potatoes thinly, and cut the ham into medium pieces.
Heat the oil in a skillet and fry the garlic. The oil should be very hot.
Add the ham, cook for 1 minute, and remove from heat.
Fry the potatoes in the same oil and cook over low heat for 4 minutes or until slightly golden.
Add the beer and let it reduce for 10 minutes over high heat.
Season with salt and pepper, and serve hot.
