  • 6 potatoes, peeled and cooked, in cubes
  • 1 cup milk, warm
  • 1/2 cups butter
  • salt
  • pepper
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 4 tablespoons butter, for the gravy
  • 4 tablespoons flour, for the gravy
  • 2 1/2 cups beef broth, for the gravy

  • Add the cooked potatoes to a saucepan or deep skillet and mash until smooth. Pour in the milk gradually and mix, then add the butter and season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg.
  • Cook until the mashed potatoes have thickened and have a creamy consistency. If it looks a bit dry, you can add a little more milk. Remove from heat and set aside.
  • For the gravy: melt the butter in a skillet over medium heat, add the flour and mix with a wooden spoon, stirring constantly. Once it has a brown color, pour in the beef broth and continue mixing to prevent lumps from forming.Season with salt and pepper and cook the gravy until the desired consistency is reached.
  • Serve the mashed potatoes and pour the gravy over.
