McDonald's Style Fries

  • 500 grams potato, peeled and cut into sticks
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 cups cornstarch
  • vegetable oil, for frying

  • Pour cold water into a bowl, then add sugar and salt and stir with a spoon until dissolved. Add the potatoes, let them rest for 15 minutes, then drain the water and dry the potatoes using absorbent paper. They should have as little moisture as possible. Set aside.
  • Sift the flour together with the cornstarch and combine in a bowl. Add the potatoes (without moisture) and gently mix them with your hands so that all the potatoes are coated with the mixture; then transfer to a strainer, shaking to remove excess flour. Set aside.
  • Pour enough oil into a pot and heat over medium heat; when it's hot enough, fry the potatoes for 8 minutes on low temperature. Once they are golden, remove from heat, drain on absorbent paper, and sprinkle with salt to taste.
  • Serve McDonald's style fries with ketchup.
