Potato Gratin, Gruyere Cheese, and Thyme

Potatoes are the perfect side dish to accompany almost any meal. The potato gratin recipe is phenomenal, with potatoes, Gruyere cheese, thyme, and thin slices of bacon, making it a spectacular dish, in addition to being a very simple recipe to cook.

  • 6 potatoes, sliced and cooked
  • 30 grams flour
  • 30 grams butter
  • 500 milliliters cow's milk
  • 250 grams Gruyère cheese, grated
  • 5 grams thyme
  • 1 pinch nutmeg
  • 1 pinch white pepper
  • 100 milligrams bacon, sliced and fried
  • 10 grams salt

  • Melt the butter in a skillet. Add the flour to form a paste, then incorporate the milk and whisk with a balloon whisk to prevent lumps. Season with spices and salt.
  • In a baking dish, layer some potatoes, add sauce, and sprinkle a bit of cheese. Repeat this step with the remaining ingredients. The last layer should be sauce.
  • Bake at 180° C for 20 minutes or until the sauce is golden.
