Rice with Cheese and Cream

  • 1 1/2 cups rice
  • 200 grams deli ham, chopped
  • 200 milliliters sour cream
  • 100 grams cheese, for melting, grated
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 1 onion, cut in half
  • 1 Poblano chile, roasted, peeled, and sliced

  • Soak the rice in hot water for 15 minutes, then drain.
  • In a saucepan, add oil, wait for it to heat up and add the onion and garlic. Then add the rice, frying everything until the rice turns golden, add the cups of hot water. Season with salt and let it simmer covered.
  • Grease a baking dish with butter. Place 1 layer of cooked rice, one of ham, and another of cheese, and continue alternating until finishing with a layer of ham and cheese, finally cover with cream and garnish with slices of poblano.
  • Bake for 15 minutes at 180°C or until the cheese is golden brown.
